Challenges / Solutions
This layout, though a farely straight forward 3 column layout still represented several internal challenges that benefitted from well-thought out structural html and tight css. The design contains several levels of navigation, a flash header to work around and lots of colour and images. The home page contains a challenging click thru case study gallery where the case study image appears to burst out over the containing box. The news section is built with flexibility in mind and can accommodate one, two or 3 columns depending on how many news items need to be displayed. The side bar has a speech bubble around the testimonial that needs to change with the length of the bubble's content. Subpages are either content heavy or image heavy. There are 2 different types of gallery pages, but both use similiar structure to contain the images and their varied descriptions. The forms are built with accessibility in mind. The linked buttons are using a search engine friendly image replacement technique.
Turn off the site's style sheet and the user is left with a beautifully structured document circa 1986 with the most important content at the top of the page and most of the navigation at the bottom. This was project was my final project at Applecore Interactive and I am quite proud of my work on it.
